Let These Holidays Go

Well here it is! Another holiday. Another time to spend money that I know you don’t have. I know that almost no one will consider what I have to say but I still feel the need to say it. We need to move past these holidays! Don’t get me wrong, I know many people use the holidays as a time to spend with family, friends, and loved ones. But let me pose a question to you. Why is it that we need a certain day in order to spend time with loved ones? Do you know when we should spend time with the ones that we care about? Everyday! Not because it’s Christmas, or Thanksgiving, or Mother’s Day, or New Year’s Eve. But because we enjoy their company.

Another thing that burns me up about holidays is the unnecessary money that we spend. Allow me to prove this theory to you. On Christmas we max out our credit cards in order to buy gifts for people from a country that makes them cheap (China), taking away the production value of our home country, in order to prove that we love them. If the only way for me to prove my love to you is to buy you something, then you don’t deserve my love. Or any love at all for that matter. Then let us fast forward to the next holiday to follow. New Year’s Eve. On this holiday, everybody and their mother is throwing a party, which means spending quite a bit of money on food, alcohol, party favors, and let’s be real, in some cases, drugs. The next holiday that follows after that is Valentine’s Day. Another day to prove to someone that you love them by buying the most expensive thing you can find in order to “get lucky” so to speak. Then take into account other special occasions like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries. By the time you make it to another year you are in more debt than you were the year before. Was it worth it?

This is the mind (or lack thereof) of an avid consumer. We wouldn’t take the time to give to a person in need, but we sure as the sun will make our way to the nearest multinational corporation that thinks of the people as cattle, mind you the day after celebrating a holiday where people talk about all they are thankful for, just to knock someone over and trample them to the ground to save ten bucks on the latest gadget. Have we lost our damn minds??

We need to be conscious of our actions. The more unconscious we are, the more we disconnect with our true selves, which is infinite consciousness: all that ever has been, is , and will be. Do you believe infinite consciousness to be just a mindless consumer? Of course not! Why would consciousness care about how much material things it can buy, knowing well that it won’t be able to take any of that stuff with them once they return back to Source?

So in conclusion, be aware of your actions on this “holiday season” and give you and your loved ones the best gift that you can ever give. Your love and by telling them to remember who they really are while at the same time remembering who you are.
